Brian Lawson has lived a professional life in the public having spent more than nine years as a television sports anchor in northern Michigan and the last decade in public relations.
However, most have no idea of his daily struggle with an inconspicuous but life threatening disease that affects nearly 1.25 million Americans. There is something more to each of us, a struggle hidden just under the surface and in this talk, Brian shares an empowering lesson he has learned from his own.
After earning a degree from Butler University in Indianapolis, Lawson moved to Traverse City, which he has called home for almost 20 years. A graduate of the Traverse City Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Grand Traverse program, he began his career in broadcasting, earning awards from the Associated Press and Michigan Association of Broadcasters while working at 7&4 News (NBC) and 9&10 News (CBS) before taking his current post at Crystal Mountain Resort as Director of Public Relations and Executive Editor of Mountain Life magazine. In addition, he spends time serving on committees for the Michigan Tourism Strategic Plan and Traverse City Chamber.
Above all, he is a proud father and also a lover of all things in the Mitten from woods and water to golf and skiing, arts and culture, restaurants and craft beer… but not necessarily in that order.
